Three Areas of Concern

When I designed the SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms, I started with the idea that my software should address the concerns of three types of users - non-technical users, Web Site Designers and Web Site Developers. SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms simplifies the process of creating and maintaining a web site and reduces the total cost of ownership by resolving the key issues in these three areas.

For Site Owners

I know that as a site owner, whether you are a small business owner or individual, you may not have the time or the desire to learn new technologies and tools. SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms allows you to do the things you need to do using the skills you already have. If you can use a word processor, you can change the text and pictures on your site.

I also understand that you do not want a solution that continues to cost you money and requires a programmer to maintain. Once your site is created, you have all the tools you need to manage your site without outside help.

For Designers

I also kept in mind during the design process that as creative people, designers do not want to use a tool that limits their creative expression. SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms has been designed to separate the functionality and content from the appearance. This means that you can build your site skins and express your ideas any way you like.

SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms uses XHTML for structure and CSS for appearance - the way it is supposed to be. SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms is completely skinnable so changing the appearance of the site does not require any modification to the content. See the Skin Example page to see the HTML of an actual SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms skin.

For Developers

Finally, for any tool to be truly useful, it must be adaptable to changing needs. For this reason, I designed SkyBlueCanvas lightweight cms to be extensible through Administrator Managers and Front-end Modules. The Manager API is easy to understand and has a lot of the Manager functionality built-in. You can view examples of the Manger and Plugin APIs in the list of links to the right labeled Resources.
